On Friday 16th June, John Terry and Toni Poole married and on Saturday 17th June Steven Gerrard & Alex Curran, Gary Neville & Emma Hadfield and Michael Carrick & Lisa Roughead all married AND a year on they all still seem happily married.

It has been revealed that Wayne and Coleen Rooney did not sign a pre-nup, prior to their wedding earlier this month in Italy. The couple decided against the legal arrangement because they didn’t want to be ‘unromantic’. The childhood sweethearts, both 22, who have been dating since they were at school, dismissed the idea out of hand, according to family friends.

The Rooney wedding

Wayne Rooney and Coleen McLoughlin began their first day as man and wife after marrying in a lavish ceremony on the Italian Riviera. The WAG wedding of the year took place on Thursday at the Villa Durazzo in the resort of Santa Margherita Ligure, around 25 miles east of Genoa.

Beneath a Louis XVI chandelier in the 17th-century palace's Salone Degli Stucchi, Rooney and McLoughlin became Rooney and Rooney, watched by a select group of friends and family. Gianni Costa, the deputy mayor of Santa Margherita who conducted the ceremony, seemed blissfully unaware of the couple's exclusive deal - reportedly worth £2.5 million - with glossy magazine OK!, and was happy to describe the union to reporters held outside by heavy-duty security.

"The bride looked lovely in white and the groom wore a brown suit with no tie," he said. "No rings were exchanged, and the ceremony was very simple, yet very beautiful."

Guests cheered and clapped when the translator told them in English that the couple were man and wife, he said.

"Everyone was very emotional and there were a few tears from everyone, especially the bride, but Wayne was very composed," he added.

Heavy rain forced McLoughlin to accessorise her white Marchesa wedding gown - believed to have cost £200,000 - with a large black umbrella, but she can take comfort in the Italian saying: "A wet bride is a happy bride."

The couple were escorted by police - and a number of paparazzi on motorbikes - on the short journey to La Cervara, an abbey which has hosted three popes and imprisoned a French king during its 650-year history, for the wedding reception.

People carriers with blacked-out windows ferried guests to the secluded cliff-top venue for the evening celebration, which culminated in a stunning midnight fireworks display that lit up the Riviera sky - a spectacular climax for a romance that supposedly began in a Croxteth chip shop.

Alex Curran did not attend Coleen and Wayne's wedding, starting rumours that Coleen and Alex Curran have fallen out.

Alex instead stayed in Miami with husband, Steven Gerrard.

Last year, when the Alex and Steven decided to marry in the same weekend as two other footballers (John Terry and Michael Carrick), Coleen made sure she was there to support Alex by fitting all three weddings into her weekend.

Coleen's sister Rosie to be princess for the day

While some members of Wayne Rooney and Coleen Mcloughlin's extended families may have loudly complained about not being invited to the couple’s star-studded wedding this week, Coleen is reportedly adamant that her little sister Rosie will play a key part in the ceremony.

Rosie has Rett Syndrome, a neurodevelopmental disorder which prevents her from walking & talking, and requires her to be fed through a tube. The friend told the newspaper: “Family means everything to Coleen and she knew how much it would mean to Rosie. She knows Rosie is unlikely to ever be a bride so this is her gift to her little sister. She wants her sister to be a princess for the day.”

Wayne’s cousin Claire Rooney and Coleen’s cousin Carly Gardiner will also serve as bridesmaids.

WAG wedding of the year is THIS WEEK

We can confirm that Coleen Mcloughlin and Wayne Rooney are getting married this week- the rumours are either Thursday or Friday.

The couple attended the town hall in the coastal resort of Santa Margherita, outside Portofino, earlier today. There they signed a sworn declaration of intent, or Promessa di Matrimonio, before a civil registrar. The document must be signed at least two days before the marriage ceremony takes place.

Coleen McLoughlin has had to make an emergency dash to New York just two weeks before her wedding to Wayne Rooney after discovering that her £100,000 Marchesa dress no longer fits. The last-minute glitch has thrown her wedding plans into chaos, and she had to drop everything to jet out to see the top designer in Manhattan.

Coleen’s pre-wedding diet has proved a little bit too successful - and she has dropped bust sizes. A source said: 'Coleen is really stressing out as this really is every bride’s nightmare. There is so much for her to organise, with several bashes lined up in the Cote d’Azur, Sicily and on a yacht in the Med. Coleen has been trying to make sure everything is in place, although at the same time she has been working with a personal trainer to keep in shape. It looks like the stress of it all has made her shed a few pounds too many, and the dress no longer fits her around the bust.'

Coleen told OK magazine: ‘If you told me years ago that I would be getting married to Wayne I would not have believed you. When we first talked about getting married we did feel too young, but not any more. My mum was married when she was 18 - and my mum and dad are still together. We want to spend the rest of our lives together.'

According to The Sun, Wayne Rooney has asked Westlife to sing at his wedding to Coleen Mcloughlin later this month. Wayne was desperate to book her favourite group after they were unable to make her 21st birthday last year.

Coleen and Wayne's wedding at La Cervara, Italy, coincides with a break in Westlifes touring schedule so they have said that they will do it. A source told The Sun: “Some of Wayne’s teammates gave him a bit of stick but he knows how much Coleen loves them.”

Coleen to have butterfly wedding

According to The Sun, Wayne Rooney and WAG Coleen Mcloughlin are to tie the knot in a £3million butterfly themed wedding at a former Italian monastery.


Fifty guests at the breath-taking clifftop abbey — visible only from the sea — will each be given a hand-made box tied with a ribbon and containing a live butterfly. All will then open the containers at the same time before watching the creatures flutter away.
A source tol The Sun: “The butterfly release will make everyone gasp with amazement. It’s a beautiful sight, the day is going to be magical. They’ve chosen the Riviera’s most picturesque spot.”

Wayne and Coleen have hired the national monument of La Cervara for two days of celebrations surrounding the June 14 wedding. The butterfly theme was inspired by the rare Two-Tailed Pasha species which feeds on local trees. Coleen is said to have chosen butterflies to symbolise her love and their years growing up together since their teens.

The source said: “Releasing the butterflies symbolises the freedom to be their own people within marriage. Coleen’s keen to still be seen as successful in her own right after the wedding.”

Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson has always had a rocky relationship with the wives and girlfriends of his players, during David Beckham’s time at Manchester United, he referred to David's WAG, Victoria Beckham as ‘that f****** girl’. He blamed Victoria for distracting her husband from his duties on the field. However he has now given his seal of approval to Wayne Rooney's WAG, fiancee Coleen Mcloughlin by saying describing her as a ‘clever girl who is down to earth – she’s good’. And he confirms his contempt for the Beckham celebrity circus by describing Rooney as ‘different class’, adding significantly: ‘He doesn’t court publicity.’

Despite his warm words for Wayne and Coleen, Sir Alex’s affection for the couple does not extend to breaking his annual holiday to attend their wedding in Italy on June 12.
Sir Alex went to the weddings of former Manchester United stars Phil Neville and Ruud van Nistelrooy but declined an invitation to the Beckham nuptials in 1999.

Coleen Mcloughlin has admitted she is getting obsessed about her wedding to Wayne Rooney. The couple went to a family wedding at the weekend and Coleen says it made her think about her own big day.

‘Wayne and I had a brilliant time at his cousin’s wedding in Liverpool last weekend,’ she says. ‘The bride looked amazing and the whole day went smoothly. It did make me think about our own wedding, which isn’t far off!’

Victoria revealed to The Sun that she has not received an invitation to Coleen and Wayne's wedding: 'No invite has come through, to be honest. David obviously knows Wayne through England but they probably know David is playing all through the summer in LA. He will be working.'

However Victoria wishes Coleen and Wayne, both 22, all the best and believes it will be a tasteful affair: 'I am sure it will be great. She has really good taste. Coleen has always been really sweet.'

Mums in competition for wedding- who will look the best?

Wayne Rooney's mum, Jeanettehas admitted why she lost an incredible seven stone on a 'super' diet..............because she didn't want to be upstaged by Coleen's mum at Wayne and Coleen's wedding this year.

Blonde Jeanette, 44, told pals she shifted the pounds to make sure she will look her best on the big day. She was terrified of being shown up standing next to Coleen's pretty brunette mum Colette, 46, in wedding photos as well as the bride's stunning aunt Tracy - whose husband Shaun is Wayne's best man.

Jeanette, from Croxeth, Liverpool, has had a tumultuous relationship with Colette ever since a family row at Coleen's 18th birthday party.

A source told The Mirror: "Jeanette has been terrified of looking overweight for her Wayne's wedding - so she pulled out all the stops. She's literally half the size. Jeanette is so proud to be Wayne's mum and now, more than ever, she wants him to feel the same in front of all their friends and family."

Coleen celebrates hen night in Manchester

Coleen Mcloughlin celebrated her hen night over the weekend as two dozen female friends and family members joined her in Manchester for a weekend of pampering and drinking.

According to the Mirror, Coleen hired a fleet of Mercedes to transfer the group from their homes in Liverpool and Cheshire to the luxury Lowry Hotel in Salford, Greater Manchester on Saturday morning.

The group, which included both Coleen’s mum Colette and her soon to be mother-in-law, fiancee Wayne Rooney’s mum Jeanette, spent the day being pampered in the hotel’s spa before a private dinner in the hotel’s £2,000 a night Presidential Suite.

After the dinner, they headed to the Panacea nightclub in the centre of Manchester for a night of dancing and champagne before returning to the hotel bar where they partied until 6am on Sunday morning, with some members of the group wearing embroidered dressing gowns, reading “Coleen’s Hen Party”.

A source told the newspaper: “The girls made sure they had a night to remember. They really let their hair down - but I suspect there might have been a few sore heads afterwards.”

Coleen and a small group of friends had a pre-hen night girls-week away in Florida last month while Wayne is said to be planning a stag weekend in Ibiza with both Manchester United and England teammates.

A WAG wedding in a hospital???!?!?!

Chelsea star Joe Cole and fitness instructor WAG Carly Zucker are planning on having a are lavish wedding reception at the State Apartments in London's Royal Hospital Chelsea.

The venue – situated in the heart of Chelsea just off the trendy Kings Road – is steeped in history with sumptuous oak-panelled rooms and famous paintings, including those by Van Dyke and Lely and has a terrace overlooking extensive grounds that stage the Chelsea Flower Show every year.

Joe Cole and Carly Zucker originally wanted to marry in the historic hospital chapel on Saturday June 28, but were told they would have to worship there for six months and then get special dispensation from the Archbishop to become eligible. So they have decided to have the reception at the hospital and the wedding ceremony elsewhere. The State Apartments cost £3,500 plus VAT to hire.

Joe proposed to Carly, 25, a year ago after a dinner at London's celebrity restaurant The Ivy after they had been dating for six years and Cole gave her a £50,000 ring at their Surrey mansion.

Cole's agent David Geiss said: "They're looking at sites in London and the Royal Hospital in Chelsea is one of them."

Coleen's wedding causing surge in botox

Coleen McLoughlin’s wedding to Wayne Rooney has apparently triggered a surge in demand from WAGs and their partners for cosmetic surgery at a leading northern clinic.

The Harley Medical Group's North Western clinics are fully booked for non surgical treatments - such as Botox, fillers and laser hair removal - in the run-up to the June wedding. The group's Manchester clinic has seen a 40 per cent surge in bookings over the last three months. And the next three weeks are set to be the busiest in the clinic's history leading them to call it ‘WAG week’.

The Manchester clinic has seen bookings increase by 40 per cent over the last three months in the lead up to Wag Week. The clinic is less than a half an hour drive from the Cheshire heartlands of footballers' wives - Alderly Edge, Wilmslow and Knutsford - where many of the WAGs live.

Clinic director Liz Dale said: "Looking through the bookings register, it’s not just the Wags booking in for treatments, the lads are making sure they will be putting in their best appearance as well."

Coleen celebrates last few weeks of freedom

Coleen McLoughlin has been letting her hair down before her wedding to Wayne Rooney in Miami, Florida this week with 5 of her girlfriends. She's set to marry Wayne, 22, in June.

Coleen, 22, is said to have started with a champagne breakfast at her hotel at 9am on Tuesday morning and continued the celebrations all day, finally ending with cocktails at South Beach's Mokai club.

'Coleen and her friends stuck out like a sore thumb in the South Beach bars,' a source told The Sun. 'The girls were having a great time, laughing and joking in the bar, but they were all saying how tired they were.'

However, some of the Rooneys are not happy with this decision and want their share of the limelight, the Daily Mail reported which has resulted in Coleen having to negotiate with OK to cover not only the glamorous Mediterranean affair, but also the reception in Liverpool.

"If that's going to happen, Coleen is saying, they have to behave and drink is going to have to be limited. That goes for everyone from Wayne downwards," a source told the Daily Mail.
